This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hi,

I tried to upgrade Recovery Solution Cluster and Server ("Upgrade Recovery Solution clusters to the latest version"). Update of the cluster was successful, but update of the server (there is only one server) has status "Server Update in Progress" since more than 24 hours.

The clients cannot connect to the server and no snapshots are possible.

Any hint, what to do?

Martin

In the windows control panel "Add or remove software" I find two entries for "Altiris Recovery Solution Server" (version 6.20.2760 and version 6.2.2801). Shoul I de-install one of them?

nope...you do the installation from the NS-console.

Henrik,

this was what I did. However, the server remains in status "Server Update in Progress".

Hello Martin,

Check the AeXCRSS.log file at C:\Program Files\Altiris\Recovery Solution\Server, it should have an explanation as to why the installation failed. It will also have the full installation command line that was used, for example:

Action start 19:21:34: ParseCmdLine.

"C:\Program Files\Altiris\Altiris Agent\Software Delivery\{12CD610D-EC12-40A1-9963-0AD06EE5E06A}\cache\setup.exe" /SILENT /RSCLUSTERNAME:"MYCLUSTER" /RSWebSite=1 /NSUsername="DOMAIN\ALTIRIS_ACCOUNT" /NSPassword="Qi/XEKF7RNEsxjWYPwp6hafuqKEBd2Ek" /Upgrade /NOSERVER /RSCLUSTERGUID:"xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx"

Try running the setup.exe manually, or without the /SILENT switch to walk through the install manually. If you're running it from Start/Run, be sure you are logged onto the server's console session (either directly on hardware, or using mstsc.exe /console (or /admin on Vista/XPSP3/RemoteDesktop 6.x)). Also, the ALtiris Application Identity (the /NSUsername) should be an Admin on the RS server at least during the installation.

Thanks,
Kyle
