Recycler directory/folder contains files deleted and moved to the Recycle Bin in the Desktop. Many virus authors use that to store their virus, not sure why, but I'm guessing that it is probably the last place anyone would look for a virus and maybe someone would accidentally restore it. The long sub-directory names would be for each user account that has deleted a file or folder in Windows.

When Windows "deletes" a file, it just simply marks that space in the drive to be available for writing and until that time comes, you can restore the deleted objects. Recycler just makes it a tad easier to restore.

But sometime SEP scan engine detected the recycler is a virus, is quiet confusing on this matter?

Recycler is not a virus but I have seen many virus in the wild with the name recycler.exe --and yes this is definitely a virus..
This exe has the image same as the recycle bin image...and this is also hidden as system file so until you uncheck show hidden operation system files you won't be able to see it..
Even now if you go to your C or D drive you wont see it but if you go to folder options -view-UNCHECK hide operating system files...you will see the recycler folder ...

    yes I agree with vikram
there are some virus which creates files/folders named as recycler/recycler.exe . you can manually delete those files after scanning.

look you can show him by changing some settings on a new installed pc .

show hidden files, show system files.

then open a drive and you can see the two folders there which is not a virus.

if you want to delete those files then disable system restore services and restart the pc which will automatically delete the system volume information folder.

and for recycle bin   right click on recyclebin and select properties . on the general tab  select "don't move files to recycle bin". and restart the pc . after this recycler folder will not show in the drive
