  • 1.  Redeploy SEP SBS after server crash

    Posted Oct 14, 2010 04:02 PM

I have a client that had SEP SBS v11 MR2 installed on an old server.  That server recently crashed and we had to replace it with a new server.  The only version available for download after I login to their Symantec account is the new v12.  All computers with SEP v11 MR2 installed have been orphaned since 2 weeks ago.  I now have two questions about this redeployment:

    1. Can v11 MR2 clients pull and install definitions successfully from a v12 SEP server?

    2. I vaguely remember there was some sort of batch script file that allows the clients to re-home back to a SEP server of your choice.  Can someone point out the script location and procedure to do this?

    thanks

SEP 12 and SEP 11 are 2 diffrent products..

SEP12 manager cannot update SEP 11 clients.

So the only way from here on for you is to Remove SEP 11.2 from all the Clients and Install SEP 12.

SEP 11.2 is too old so the better idea would be to remove them altogether and move on the environment to SEP12

Thanks for that heads-up about the client update.  I would have created a big mess during the deployment.

Symlink is what I remember, but in this case, that doesn't even apply to me since v11 mr2 clients can't talk to v12 server.

    THANKS GUYS!
