Regarding NDMP Backup Failed with Status 99

Hi ,

We are facing an issue regarding NDMP backup.

When we try to take backup of NDMp , it fails with status 99.

Kindly find the summery of failed job.

3/21/2012 12:18:01 - Error ndmpagent (pid=8472) ndmp_data_start_backup failed, status = 9 (NDMP_ILLEGAL_ARGS_ERR)
03/21/2012 12:18:01 - Error ndmpagent (pid=8472) NDMP backup failed, path = /__VOLUME__/noncriticaldata
03/21/2012 12:18:01 - Error bptm (pid=8477) none of the NDMP backups for client HDFCNETAPPF1 completed successfully

I have also check the other threads regarding these error , but could not find the solution.

Master Server :- Solaris 10

NBU Version :- 6.5.4

Kindly help.

SOLUTION

Check the utilization fo the filer, if its high sometime ndmp backup will fail with this error

 /__VOLUME__/noncriticaldata  does look odd, perhaps a bad pathname.  Did you get this sorted out?

1. Please make sure your volume has selected correctly;

2. Please make sure your volumes are exists (not destroyed);

3. If ok, make sure you have enough space to do backup in the volume. if it is highly utilised it will not be able to create snapshot and failes with same error;

4. If all is ok please let us know if you have installed any EEB recently?

Hi All,

Issue has been resolved as given link by Marianne.

We have modified the path now backup is working fine.
