Solution

This problem can happen when necessary Symantec files are not present or are damaged. To work around the problem, (as Pete said) remove the program manually. Manual removal instructions for Symantec Client Security and Symantec AntiVirus can be found in the document Manual uninstallation documents for Symantec Client Security products.

A more detailed out line of this entire process can be found here:

How to uninstall Symantec Antivirus, Symantec Endpoint Protection, and Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager, and what to do if that fails
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/ent-security....

Also I would just like to note now that one of the steps in the article above suggest using cleanwipe to help remove SEP. The only way to obtain cleanwipe is to call in and make a support case with Symantec.

Re

Dear Medishetty,

Kindly first try to uninstall from add remove programs then search for symantec entries in registry
and delete them.
for deleting registry you can use RCrawler to delete them at once,
there are some entries which gives problem while deleting so you can take there ownership and delete them.
delet folders from program files
documents and settings-all user -Application data-all symantec
Program Files\Common Files and
then retry.
hope it should resolve your query
