Registry Redirect Area
Updated: 29 Jul 2010 | 1 comment
This issue has been solved. See solution.
The SWV 6.1 SP1 documentation states the following:
The installation creates the following registry keys:
Registry redirection area HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\fslrdr
The registry redirection area is where the registry entries in a virtual software layer are stored.
However, it seems registry information is stored under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE where each layer is named _SWV_LAYER_# where # is the (sub)layer's magic number. The fslrdr key (mentioned in the documentation) is still created. Is this for backward compatibility?

Correct. Previously imported
Correct. Previously imported layers still use the reg redirect area via this key.
Newly imported or created layers won't have this key. The registry data is simply mounted these days.
