Remote Computer Inventory

We installed Altiris in March of 2009 and are still trying to work out some "kinks".  One of our biggest obstacles is attempting to figure out how to get inventory from remote computers.  We do not have a VPN in place currently and are using Citrix for our remote users to connect while out of the office.  Is anybody out there in a similar situation with a way to get inventory data regularly?

I have heard something about a Web Inventory Package...Is anyone using this?  If so, will it work to accomplish what we are trying to do?  Thanks.

The KB shoots and scores again

The web package inventory process (which I've used to decent effect in the past) is demonstrated here - Altiris KB4283

The issue with that and why it doesn't really suit your situation (at least using the post to http method), is your server would have to be interenet facing and basically accept anon access data for posting. (Not to mention options 2-5 are missing at the end of the article).

You can modify the file as described in Altiris KB28691 to get a local output, which can then be copied to the NS server.

However the Inventory Reference Guide provides the missing information from the first KB, primarily on how to post using email or a webpage, which may be best for you.

Would Altiris KB4283 work if

Would Altiris KB4283 work if I had a NS that was outside of my corporate firewall that was internet facing?  We are not ruling anything out at this point and attempting to evaluate all options.
