Hi,

When I try to connect remotly I have this error:

"failed to connect to the server.
 
 Make sure that the server is running and your session has not time out.
If you are reach the server but cannot log on, make sure that you provided correct parametre.."

the server is running, I put the correct parametre: port 8443 (fixed on installation)
firewall is disabled

have you any idea from where came the problem?

how are u trying to connect?

you RDP to the server and open SEPM interface or
you type

http://ip:9090/reporting?

or

remote console of SEPM?

check the version of Java on the local box.

Try this.

Go to the Add and remove program uninstall all the existing Java from the System.

Then try to connect to the server suing port 9090 your system will download the needful Java from the SEPM server & then try to login & let me know if that works :)

@Rafeeq: I'm using http://ip:9090/symantec.html , there is no conflict with another process with this port.
@Zoidberg: I enabled  rules for remote control of Terminal Services user sessions but I have the same error message
@kavin and Cycletech: I've already the right Java version

Do you have proxy enabled in internet explorer on the client from where you are using the remote console?

Yes I have a proxy enabled in IE but disabled for local adress.
I'm using the remote console from another computer with is in the same network and the same domain with the server.
Yes I can log in SEPM locally

It all has to go via IE..

can  you remove all the java versions from add /remove programs ( if you are not using any)

remove remote console snap in

then type: http://ip:9090

it would install java.

will ask you , if you want to trust this site, click yes

try to log in now..

Can you try disabling the proxy and log in now?

Do u have a ISA server?

on the machine when you do the netstat - ano

do u see the ports listening 8443?


is your tomcat port 8443?

HTTPS communication between a remote management console and the SEPM manager. All login information and administrative communication takes place using this secure port.

is it this port or you have diff in the log in console.

is windows firewall enabled?

if so u need to create exclusions for the port numbers.

try to ping the SEPM server, and check the name resolutions is happing fine.

when I do netstat -ano on the server the TCP 8443 port is listning.
where can I check if it's the tomcat port?

When you open the remote console,

you wil a log on screen.

in that it will have a colum for
 id:
Pass:
remoteSEPMaddress:8443.

do u see 8443 ? or diff when you open the console?

SSL uses 443, simillaryly secure tomcat port is 8443...

yes I have 8443 port on the login window. this port is on listning on the server

no no, I'm able to logon only locally, but I can't logon remontly.

when you get the log in screen.

you have server: servernamea;8443

can you replace the name with IP:8443 and try in case if its not able to resolve the name.

have you changed your host file?

non I have IP:8443 and I didn't change the host file.
I suppose that's a problem of services or some like that
