  • 1.  remove client from console

I have a pc I'm retiring and wish to remove it from the console and it gives me the message:

Integrity error - the selected item(s) can not be deleted.
The selected item(s) is part of a Task or Report definition.
You must remove it from the Task or Report before deletion.

I can't find it in any of the reports or tasks.  What is the proper way to remove a client from the console?

    thanks,

    Squidley

Make sure you delete the machine from:
    1) Whatever machine groups they may be in
    2) Any Tasks that may be assigned to them
    3) Remove any task from Excecuted Template Tasks that has this machine in it

    Enhancement:
Wouldn't it be nice if ghost would tell you what tasks/machine groups it is part of so you could remove them?
Or better yet let ghost just ask you to remove it from all tasks/machine groups.

I have many machine groups and tasks and it takes me a while to find a particular machine.
Especially in GSS 1.x when you had to create extra groups and tasks, because you did not have templates.

Thanks, it was hiding in the "Executed Template Tasks".  I wouldn't have thought to look there.

    1) I removed the machine from all groups
    2) removed it from reports and the Executed Template Tasks
    3) uninstalled the client
    4) was finally permitted to delete the machine and reclaim my license.

    Thanks again for your help.

    Bravo, Mike!

Symantec, please consider this.  I, for one, would love any portion of the above suggested enhancements to be included in the next GSS release.

    Cheers, Jack

I'd like to add my vote for that enhancement request too!  My god, I would never have thought of looking in executed Template Tasks if it hadn't been for this thread.  I thought that was just the equivalent of a log, showing, well, which Template Tasks had been Executed.  Since the tasks didn't exist any more in the tasks folder, there was nothing to see.

At the very *least* the error message should list Tasks, Reports and Executed Template Tasks as places to look.  But really, it should tell you which tasks are associated with the computer you are trying to delete.

Having the same problem with Ghost V8.0 There is no "Executed Template Tasks" to check on this version. Is there any other way of seeing what task is causing the problem on Ver 8?

Hey thanks for posting the answer for the link issue. I've been having this issue for some time now and didn't know how to fix it. It worked like a charm....
