Remove Outlook add-Ins error
Updated: 15 Aug 2010 | 7 comments
I installed the EV 2007 SP1 Outlook Add-Ins onto my XP SP2 workstation. I also have the EV Admin console installed. When i go to uninstall the Add-Ins from Add/Remove Programs, I get an error which says "This client kit cannot be installed on top of a server installation". Anyone seen this before?
Thanks.

I recently upgraded to 8.0.3 and tried to install the VAC on my machine and am running into this issue again. Originally, it worked fine to install the Oulook Add-In first and then install the VAC. Now, I have uninstalled the 8.0.1 add-in, uninstalled the 8.0.1 VAC, rebooted, installed the 8.0.3 add-ins, run Outlook to verify the install was complete and working, reinstalled the 8.0.3 VAC and rebooted. After reboot the add-ins act as if they need to complete the install again and then throw the error message. Even so, if I click OK a couple times the add-ins are installed and seem to work. However, if I run Tech Info I get an error on the http connection:

Ahh - I just answered my own question. I should have tried this fist: ran ResetEVClient.exe and it fixed the problem.

Hi,
I have asked this to be fixed in V8 sp4. So when that comes out I'd be keen for you to try it out and let me know if the client and the VAC on a workstation do indeed get along better.
Cheers,
