  • 1.  Remove PXE Configurations DS 7.5

I have removed them by deleting them from the console; however they still exist on the server itself when doing a pxe boot.

What type of cleanup do I need to do so that I don't have old pxe configurations showing up and just the current ones I want?

    Thanks

Check also PXE logs, if you have a Boot Menu overflow.

Known things and currently an internal KB is created to fix it.

If you have the Boot Menu overflow in PXE logs, contact Support for fix

-Check the table Sbs_Serverlist' in the database under symantec_cmdb.

-You will be getting the WINPE names. using the delete command delete the unwanted WINPE files.

-Before doing this make sure that you have taken a backup of the symantec_CMDB database.

-If you are not a SQL specialist just check with you database adminstrator to do it.

I really don't think the SBS Server List table has what you're looking for in it - not unless it has changed recently.  I'm not yet on SP1, but my server list table is empty, but I have two active PXE menu items.  And the columns are different.  But maybe it has changed?

How long did you wait for the menu items to "go away"?  That is, is it still a problem?  If it's fixed, what did you do?

They should go away pretty quickly, unless there are communication issues.  I'm interested in where this stands...

It's been a few weeks and they are still there.  They no longer show in the console itself, but when pxe booting using F8 they still exist on the site server.

You CAN just pull them from the PXE server.  Find the folder - delete - restart PXE.  What would be really interesting is if they come BACK.

PXE in 7.5 doesn't read an INI file from the server to know what PXE menu options to display - it simply enumerates the folders available.  SO - remove the folders, and voila - options gone.

That said, IF the NS thinks those menu's SHOULD be there, they'll rebuild.  In theory.  IF they do rebuild, that would be really fascinating.

If you only have a single PXE server, just delete the sub foler for the options you don't want there (assuming they're "gone" in the console) an then restart the PXE server service.  That shoul pull the option.  If so, wait say 24/48 hrs and see if it returns.

    Then let us know.

That's not a "fancy" answer, but it should be better than no answer at all.  :P
