I've read several thousand pages of documentation on the console and attended training, and I've never heard of it being possible. What is the business need to disable Search? It's a very useful feature in every environment I visit, and is sometimes the only way to find a resource that is (for whatever reason) not located within an organizational view. You can search and then right-click and Move it to a valid view/group.
