Have you submitted the virus samples to symantec?

You can also check the infected file by submitting  to http://www.virustotal.com/

yes, if the file is suspicious submit to sumantec, otherwise read the writeup for the threat (if detcted by symantec) and see the client have latest definition to remove this threat.

    Pete!

Since you have already formatted this computer to get rid of this virus then its OK.
But if you have this infection on any other computer or if you known where it came from you can report it to symantec
you can submit the file to https://submit.symantec.com/basic  -Depending on your support contract

Submiting a file is very important always for mainly 2 reasons.
Once you have submitted the file and symantec has the definition for it

    1. You will never get infected with the same file so you wont have to format any machine again.
there was one computer you went ahead and formatted it what if it would have been more than 100 computers

    2. Nobody else across the world using Symantec or norton product will get infected with the same threat. Some social work as well.
