I was trying to install Symantec Antivirus 10 on my home PC, as I have it running on my laptop used for work. Problem is that the home PC runs off of Vista whereas the laptop off of XP. When installing on Vista, I was given a message that there are known compatibility issues. I now seem to have the program partly installed and can't install it further. Worse still I can't uninstall the program either. I would like to uninstall the program and install the new version of Norton Internet Security 2010 that I have purchased. Any suggestions??

Manual removal should work without issues, however it is a somewhat laborious process. You might try to "repair" the SAV install from add remove programs if it shows up there. That might make it so you can uninstall it without troubles. Also I am not sure the guide that Prachand posted will work since it is for Symantec Endpoint Protection and you were asking about SAV. If I am mistaken on that Prachand please correct me : )
