  • 1.  Renewals Question

We have many customers using Symantec Client Security 3.x and Symantec AntiVirus 10.x that are coming up for renewal. In the past we renewed them with our software supplier who took the customers details and certificate number and we were issued with a new .slf file which we went to their office and loaded on the server and workstations.

Now we need to renew them to the Symantec EndPoint Protection software which we have done with our supplier. We can then go to our licensing portal and download the new software. We remove the old versions of the software from our customers servers and workstations and install the new software on the server and deplot the clients fine.

My questions is is there an .slf file any more? If so where does it go and if there isn't one any more how does the software know 1) when it will expire and 2) how many users it is licenced for?

Hope someone can give me a few answers.

    Thank You

There is no license file for SEP11 as long as it is not a small business edition (which is sold in boxes and has 5 licenses by default afair).
The license is valid until expiration date and you are licensed to use them on as many sits as in your license.
You should have a license for that (i.e. we are sending licenses in PDF files to our customers).
On your license should be also SN so you can go to http://fileconnect.symantec.com and download all available updates for you. If you have some problems with licenses call Symantec Customer Support.
