  • 1.  renewing Endpoint management server

    Hi there,

I have a question about renewing my main Endpoint management server.
The server is old and is giving me problems, so im planning to replace the old server soon.

    I have one local site ( server1)

Under this site i have 3 servers:

    - server1 (configured as failover with server2)
    - server2
    - db Server

I have to replace server1, what is the best procedure to do this?
Can i simply install a new management server and delete server1?
Also the local site under server tab in Endpoint manager is set on this server, do i need to replace this site to another server or is this just a name or something?

    Hoping for some answers.

    Thanks,

    LEVD

    Edit

    Hi,

    Q. I have to replace server1, what is the best procedure to do this?

    Check this article

Hot to move SEPM from one server to another server.

Just follow the articles mentioned above for the SEPM migration from one machine to another - just deleting the olde server and installing the new one would not be a recommended approach.

    Hello levd,

I discussed your scenerio with senior engineers.

Can i simply install a new management server and delete server1?

    ----> Yes it's possible.

This approach should work because you already have failover & loadbalancing between both the SEPM's.

Only make sure while running management server you will select 2nd option i.e. Install an additonal management server to an existing site & point it to an existing SQL database.

Note: Before decommisoning SEPM1 remove SEPM1 entries from the SEPM2 server.

Remove from local site of SEPM2.
