We all know that removing old disk images from the server is a royal pain in the backside since you need to delete them both from the console and from the server file store separately, using the GUID of the image as reference.

I think what would help us is a report that lists all our disk images, along with the name, the description, the GUID of the folder it is stored in, and the last modified date.  This would at least prevent us from having to open every single disk image resource individually, just to retrieve the GUID which would speed up the process considerably.

Can anyone with SQL skills and knowledge of the database, come up with something suitable?  We're currently running CMS 7.5 HF1.

    Thanks.

I never really paid attention to the GUID.  We only have about 15 images, so maybe it's simpler for us.  I also don't have unlimited disk space, so I'm forced to keep up with deletes so never deleting more than 2 or 3 images at a time.

When I'm ready to delete, I usually do it in the console first under All Resources, Software Component, Image Resource and make sure I have the name right I'm deleting (usually straight forward as I number images win7entx64v1, v2 etc so I'm deleting the old v number usually).

Then on the server, I have a shortcut to where images are stored in 7.5 on my desktop

    \\cms\NSCap\bin\Deployment\Packages\Images

So I go there, then search that sharepoint for partial name to find what I want to delete, then go to that file location, go up a level to get to the GUID folder and delete.

Agree a report would be nice, but in case my way helps anyone, figured I'd share.

Thanks Sally - we have a number of different images as the console is used by a few different departments all managing their own images. We usually don't give those people direct access to the server, so we end up having to delete their images also. Of course the ideal solution would be to be able to delete the image via the console and be presented with a "Also delete from server?" type response or checkbox. That would be perfect. Maybe I'll drop a suggestion in the ideas forum....

Let me know if you do, I'll vote it up.  I'm lucky I'm in a smaller environment, but I don't love doing it twice either.
