Oftentimes computers have had their bandwidth control disabled and not re-enabled when testing.  I was wondering if there was a way to determine if that function is enabled or disabled on a system using the native classes or if I would need to create a custom inventory task to do this.

Are you talking about specific agent policy settings, or something on the client like a networking setting or a software program?

I am referring to the "use bandwidth control" option in the Altiris Agent settings.  I am on NS version 6.0.6074.

    Hi jgallas,

To know witch machines have the Bandwidth Control option enabled to use this informations at reports, I think that you can make a custom inventory for the following registry key:
    HKLM\Software\Altiris\Communications\Enable Bandwidth Control

There are other interesting keys about this at HKLM\Software\Altiris\Communications

    Regards,

I knew about that key I was just wondering if there was a "built in" way but I guess that's not one of the Agent attributes that gets inventoried by default.

This would have to be a custom inventory.  A very simple one, but a custom inventory nonetheless.  So as to not waste the effort, you could also pick up a few of the other "interesting" values in the Agent registry configuration as well.

    Hi jgallas,

Altiris Agent atrributes inventoried by Basic Inventory is only these:

Aex AC Client Agent (Agent Name, Product Version, Build Number, Install Path)

Using a custom inventory you will be able (and have sure) to know witch machines are with the Bandwich Control enable or not

    Regards,
