We have 2 Brightmail appliances one control center and one scanner. I setup reports yesterday to run a report at midnight and email it to my VP and myself. Imagine trying to explain to your VP why the report comes back with COMPLETE OPPOSITE numbers as the dashboard.

    Here are my report settings:

Here is what the report returned:

    Here is my Dashboard status:

I need this FIXED ASAP and why it would do this anyways? This has been frustrating as all get out.

This won't be my only forum entry after researching the others but so far 8.0.2-12 has _NOT_ been a welcomed upgrade since doing it earlier this year. Nothing like calling support and being told Synchronizing LDAP sometimes doesn't work and to turn it off..........

There's also the subject of user block lists not working even though it is enabled... again I'll save that for another forum entry.

well if I'm looking at this correctly.... Your report that you and your VP received was from 12am 9/21 to 12am 9/22. That is a snapshot of traffic in that specific 24 hour period. The dashboard screenshot you put in here is from 9am 9/21 to 9:33am 9/22. This 24hour snapshot started measuring traffic 9 hours later than your report did. The dashboard give you a point in time snapshot from the present time your logged in back 24 hours or whatever you change the view to. So if you are logged into the dashboard at 10:35am it will give you a 24 hour view of inbound traffic from 10:35am present day to 10:35am yesterday... Your report is from specifically 12 midnight to 12midnight the day before. So your numbers are going to be off for sure...or is there something more obvious I'm overlooking?

I can generate a report from the same time frame if you like but to me you are still off (no offense I'm just in a cranky mood after my discussion this morning). The two timeframes overlap but let me start with the simple fact we never get 1.2 million good emails in a 24 hour period, ever.
For the sake of argument I'm running a report now consisting of the same'ish timeframe as the dashboard. Here are the results, still mirrored. The first is my dashboard, the second a report run a minute later, if that. The dashboard is saying in the past 24 hours we have had 1.4mil threats, I can believe that. The report shows however that we've only had 22,748, that I can't believe.

The dashboard includes ALL threats.  The Spam report only SPAM.  Note that the dashboard reports 22,749 spam,  this is very close to the spam report. The dashboard also counts all the other items in the Threats section e.g. bad reputation.

In otherwords SPAM  is a subset of threats.

I see. I will try running the Executive summary perhaps and see if that more closely with the dashboard and advise.

    Thanks!
