I've inherited a bit of a mess. We have a SEPM installation that is quite hopelessly fubared. I do not have time or the necessary hardware to fix it at the moment, so I must postpone fixing that problem.
In the meantime, what I urgently must do is enable the clients to update via liveupdate. Currently liveupdate is disabled on all the clients. I've pushed some manual updates to the clients, using downloadables daily updates , but that is of course rather fastidious and not any kind of solution. More to the point, the PTP does not update using this method.
I'm not sure what the best method would be. Is it possible to update the policies manually on each client in order to allow it to updating via Liveupdate? After which, would it be a good idea to convert the clients to unmanaged? I've found the procedure for converting clients to unmanaged, but I don't know how to manually apply a policy to a client, or how to create one. Can I transfer the policies from the old server manually, edit them to enable liveupdate, and push them, again manually to the clients?
Any help would be appreciated. I am trying very hard to avoid having to go to each machine, and remove the client and re-install it. At that point, I might as well choose a different product.
