This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hi All,

Couple of queries on backing up Exchange 2010 with BE 2010:

1. BE 2010 required to backup Exchange 2010 - got!
2. 64-bit OS to run BEWS 2010 - in the pipe-line
3. Do we need to run 64-bit BEWS 2010, and on a 64-bit OS in order to back up Exchange 2010? I read that somewhere briefly over the weekend.

Laters!

Hello, I have tried both BE

Hello,

I have tried both BE 32-bit & 64-bit. I would recomend you to install the 64-bit version of Backup Exec 2010.

Its a best practice to have a "Support Contract" with Symantec...

 Well since there are no

Well since there are no 32bit Exchange tools anymore, your BE2010 server should be 64bit if you want to restore any data from the BE interface.

There is an online portal, save yourself the long hold times. Create ticket online, then call in with ticket # in hand :-) http://mysupport.symantec.com "We backup data to restore, we don't backup data just to back it up."

Yes.

What OS is recommend for BEWS2010?
I wanna backup Windows 2008 R2 Active Directory and 2 Exchange Server 2010 with BEWS2010.
I would prefer Windows 2003 R2 64bit.

It needs to be 2008 or

It needs to be 2008 or better.  Personally, I like Win2k8 64bit  And not the R2 edition.
