Resource list of Backup Exec 2012 is not updated

Created: 11 Jan 2013 • Updated: 10 Mar 2013 | 3 comments
This issue has been solved. See solution.

When I create backup job to backup local Backup Exec server itself, I found resource list are not updated in Test/Edit Credential. Some drive (X:/ ,Y:) was not deleted but still found in resource list.

In the Backup Exec 2012 console, it does not allow us to remove Backup Exec server in design.

How can I update the resource list?

If you have manually selected these disk then they will not be automatically deleted when you delete the disks.  You wuold have to delete them manually from the resource llist.  If you had selected the top level, i.e., the entire server, then these disk would be automatically not shown in the resource list when you delete them

You may need to click on the Edit button at the bottom of the left-hand pane of the job definition screen and then click on the Selection Details tab.  If you see the X;, Y: drives there, delete them

Similar issue outlined in https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/vce...

Though I am not sure if this applies to the local media server but works fine for remote servers..

I found another article to duplicate backup server.

https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/rem...

1- Stop Backup Exec services.

2- Open SQL Management Studio and expand BEDB database.  Locate dbo.ResourceContainer, right-click and select Open Table.

3- Find the duplicate entry and delete that row.

4- Restart the SQL Server (BKUPEXEC) service.

 5- Start Backup Exec services.
