Just a quick one - is the status only returned as 'yes' if SEP itself is the process which requires a restart, or does SEP detect a pending reboot caused by other processes - e.g. an MS patch install requiring a reboot to complete?

Hello,

The status shown as "Restart Required" are the machines which requires a restart for making changing to SEP client only.

When there is a migration or upgrade taking place, the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager console shows "Restarted Required" for clients that have not restarted after the upgrade. The deployment status in the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager console displays the message, "To provide complete protection Symantec Endpoint Protection requires this computer to restart."

The Symantec Endpoint Protection user interface on the client also shows that a restart is needed.

its related only to SEP during upgrade or during virus remediation.

This came up because an upgrade of the client version happened and it needs to be rebooted to take affect

-->  SEP does not detect a pending reboot caused by non symantec process. During SEP upgrade reboot is mandatory & in some other cases like virus remediation it may required.
