    Hello

I apologize if this is not the appropriate forum. Please direct me to an adequate forum, if needed.

I try to restore a HP Pavillion Laptop with a Windows Vista system. The image copy was made in 2010 using the program Norton Ghost 12. After booting the CD and choosing the image file, the program tells me "invalid target drive".

The partition table has been changed since the backup was made. I susptect this is the cause for the error. I do not know the original partition table. I know that the Vista system partition I try to restore from is smaller than the current Vista partition in the computer.

Is there any way to restore this computer?

    Thanks.

At the top of this forum is a link that will take you to the Norton Ghost community. This is a different product based on a different technology to the Symantec Ghost Solution Suite product.

Thank you for your information. I am sorry I posted in the wrong forum.

I think the forum I search is https://community.norton.com/en/forums/norton-ghost. (I didnt find the link here, but I Googled it.) I will direct further questions there.

My problem solved by itself. I had erroneously assumed repartitioning made recovery impossible. But the Symantec Recovery Disk lists recovery points in three ways: "by date", "files" and "system". For some reason I have not yet understood, recovery only works in my system when I choose the recovery point under "files". Recovery worked fine.
