This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hi there,
Hi Sym,

we have a Symante Backup Exec 2010 (SBS) running on a Windows 2008 SBS Server.
We have a high increasement of raw photo files (up to 14MB per file, up to 500 files a day).

My ideas was to backup the file type automatically and to delete them from HDD after verifying - no prob so far.
But how can i give access to my associates for these files. For this, there could be a web access console or sth. like that, that they can restore files themselve from tape.

We use a QUANTUM SuperLoader3 with LTO and 16 bays, so there was enough place for this.

Have any ideas?
Thanks and best regards,

Hi there Patrick,

Best bet is to investigate & TEST the archiving technology in BE 2010.

What it will allow you to do is, using rules, archive data off to other storage. From there, you are able to select how long that data is retained, and your users will be able to access it via a web console.

This is a licensed function of BE 2010 though, and the ideal situation is to take it from your server, and archive to cheaper disk...

Download the BE 2010 Admin Guide, and then read the section on Archiving. This covers it in more details.
