restore database with backup exec
Updated: 21 May 2010 | 5 comments
I'am trying to restore a database with sql server 2000 and veritas netbackup 5.0
I would restore backup with exec images.
I have selected server, client and policy type and then I choose file --> select file and folders to restore --> from exec backup.
Unfortunately I read "Warning the server (XXXX) does not contain any backup for client (YYY)...".
My master server contain the backup made with sql, because I can restore (without problem) with script.
Which I'am wrong?
Thank's a lot

While selecting the "Source client " you will have to select the policy type as MS-SQL-SERVER then only you will be able to view the restores IN Netbackup.
Also, if the backups were originally Backup Exec backups then you need to select that under Restore type in the Backup, Archive and Restore GUI.
HI Jeffrey,
I have never restored any EXEC restores...also I have none
But just outof curiosity i want to know how does we command Netbackup that the Data we are restoring is backup exec data....
Do wehave to install any separete license to enable this in context of NB 5.1 or any other extension needs to be installed ?Message was edited by:

In 5.1 the license is included but you do have to install it as a seperate option. Once it is installed there is a long drawn out process to import the Backup Exec tapes into NetBackup and then from there it is easy. You simply specify in the drop down in the restore gui that the backup you are restoring from is Backup Exec. You can see the selection in the drop down even without the option installed.
Thanks Jeffrey found the Backup Exec Restore option...
Thanks :-)
