Restore error Error nbjm(pid=4512) nbrb status: RB deallocated orphaned resources
Hi All,
Here is the setup:
I have a Master Server 6.5.3. I am trying to restore a whole folder which is around 46 GB from my tape where the data was backed up. It started off a bit slow.... but after 15 GB of restore ....it stopped and this is the error i saw under the job details:
Error nbjm(pid=4512) nbrb status: RB deallocated orphaned resources
Please also note 3 things here:
1. When i saw the activitiy monitor on my Netbackup console the tapes were not there inside the drive.
2. there was no error thrown....meaning the job was active and running but the KB counts or restore process was not increasing.
3. From the tape i am restoring the data on my Master Server's D drive with enough space. I thought it will be more faster than doing it over the network.
Right now i wont restore again coz it my backup time already. But any suggestions or any one had some similar issue/problem/error can help me out.
Before this i have restored same amount of data without any errors, its a simple folder restore.

hi
Hi ,
Thanks for the link. I saw this link before i posted my error. My problem is related to the restore.
Another thing i just tired was I selected the restore from only the FULL backup and not the differential (incremental).the previous time i selected both FULL and DIFF.
Also i selected only 1 folder to restore (out of 45) and it was successful. I am wondering if initially i should just restore all the FULL backup first and than go for the DIFF?
Coz 2 tapes were used for FULL and DIFF (for a span of 5 days). This huge amount of data to restore might cause the reloading of tapes (from full to diff)a problem. I am sure that the FULLL backups will be only on the tape number 1.
I will try it tomorrow and update you all. But any suggesstions or comments are all welcomed.
Abby
Hello, By your information,
Hello,
By your information, NetBackup Server and the client are running on Windows Platform.
Did you check any ghosted devices on Device Manager?
Forcing Device Manager to show ghosted devices requires a little more work. Right click My Computer and click Properties. From the Advanced tab, click Environment Variables. Under System Variables, click the New button. Type devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices for the Variable Name. Under Variable Value, type “1″ and click OK. Click OK twice more to apply your changes and exit the System Properties dialog box. Now open Device Manager again and from the View menu, click Show Hidden Devices. The easy way: you can set this environment variable on the prompt command (cmd.exe).
Regards.

Worked Out This Way
Hi All,
Thanks for all the comments.
I restored the FULL backup and DIFF backup separately and it worked out.
I am still wondering why the error came in the first place.
Thanks for all the comments.
