Can you pl provide the source

Can you pl provide the source and destination paths.

Also pl share the device details - both NDMP device and the VTL you'd mentioned.

This will help us helping you.

HI Sid33 .but when i am

HI Sid33

.but when i am trying to start the restore ..it kicks off fine and restores some kbs of data aswell

1.) if you are using the SQL restore kindly close the console of SQL and should delete any database which is already stuck in restoring. this is one clear major issue which comes in SQL restore.

2.) Do you have one and half times more space than your database backup size? there should be around 150 times more space where you try to restore.

Any comment will be appreciated. Mark as Solution if your query is resolved

Zahid, what makes you mention

Zahid, what makes you mention SQL? Please have another look at the original post - it's an NDMP restore.

Please share restore log

Hi sid33

Deepak has asked some valid questions about 2 days ago.
What is the NBU version?
Are you doing restore with or without DAR?
Please also share the restore log. If it was initiated from a Unix master, it will be in /usr/openv/netbackup/logs/user_ops/root/logs.
If there's a .chg and .log, please share both.

Yes We need your Restore Logs

Possible Reasons.

Network Connectivity.

Space Issue.

Tape/Drive Issue.

Anyway your restore log will have this informations. Check for above kind of errors. and post it here.

Thanks, Karthikeyan Sundaram.

Sorry for the delayyy...

Hello Everyone ,

Thank you for headsup on this issue ... i got the issue resolved ....
The issue was with the qtree on the destination filer ... the qtree was not created and the inode count was very less on the destination ... thats was why even if there was space ..it was not allowing to write the data on the restore and it was getting failed ....

Rite now i am having another issue:

11/27/2009 06:24:48 - positioned HA9728; position time: 0:00:00
11/27/2009 06:24:50 - begin reading

11/27/2009 06:24:58 - Error ndmpagent (pid=6124) NDMP restore failed from path /vol/wslocal2
11/27/2009 06:25:00 - Error bpbrm (pid=6117) client restore EXIT STATUS 5: the restore failed to recover the requested files
11/27/2009 06:24:27 - restored from image sjc5-netapp10a.cisco.backpacs.net_1252746639; restore time: 0:00:30

can anyone please look into it ....
