Restore Files to location other than Server

Created: 16 Apr 2010 • Updated: 17 Oct 2010 | 1 comment

We have a server running windows 2003 and I would like to restore the files to a desktop that is located remotely. However, I can't get the Backup Exec software to install - looking for SQL server files.

Is there a way to restore .bkf files or individual data files to the desktop?

I'm trying to operatinal test a disaster plan and it appears that we will be without files until the new server is procured and installed. Then system restored...would like the remote desktop to act as a temporary workstation...

Are you trying to restore data to the workstation or SQL data?

Backups taken with the SQL agent can only be restored to a SQL server instance

For flat-file data, you should be able to create the restore job and select redirect, then path to the computer\share where you want the data dropped
