Hi !

My Problem :
I have a non succesfull backup from one client.
But the tapes that are used from this backup contain some "Files" from this and other clients, i can see it when i make a Media contents report

Can i restore this files from the tape ?

I have a File number and a backup_id, and all the things that is shown by the report. But the file numbers are by other client-backups, too

An Import doesnt work, because the backup is not in the database, because its not succesfull. OR ? When i search to the client that i need, than theres no entity found !

If a backup is not successfull in Netbackup, then you cannot restore the backup image using NetBackup.

yeah, but there are a lot of "ifs"
I was trying to locate the article by Rob Worman in Curtis Preston's "storage central' NetBackup FAQ-A-MATIC or something like that. I remember that multiplexing is a show stopper and that you have to be aware of fragmentation. I'm not sure about spanning tapes, etc

You might try reading this. It may give some insight on using tar. But you are starting to get into some heavy stuff!

Heres some more:
Directions on how to use tar to restore data off of a tape. This example is based on the Solaris Platform.
