For DR purpose, we have to restore our NDMP backups to different NDMP host. Since we have never done this before. Need some ideas first before we can plan the testing.

1. Do we have to configure the new NAS filer exactly same as original one (NDMP host, CIFS server, shares...)?

2. if our new filer located on different location, do we have to relocate NDMP tapes to new location to performing the restore to new Filer?

Yes to both questions.

1. NDMP backups can only be restored to same manufacturer's NAS device. For example - NetApp cannot be restored EMC Celerra.
CIFS share can be installed to another CIFS share or Windows client.

2. Yes. NBU will need the media in order to perform the restore.
If you will restore using a different media server than original media server, you can use Media host override setting in Master Server Host Properties -> General Server.

It can have a different name. You will perform a redirected restore.
