  • 1.  Restore Patch Management Packages

    Posted Apr 19, 2011 04:23 AM

    Hi,

I had the 'Delete Packages after 1 week' option enabled and have now deleted microsoft Patch Management packages that i still require. I have now disabled this option so future downloads shouldn't be in issue however can anyone tell me the best way to restore these packages without having to delete them all and starting again?

I have tried to recreate some but my client machines still don't seem to be able to find the package, the status is set to 'retrying' as the file isn't there to download. I have also ran the NS.Package Refresh scheduled task to no avail.

Thanks in advance for your help

The options 'Delete Packages after 1 week'   is applicable only for a client machine. The package will not removed from NS server.

Try to recreate packages for selected bulletins at Patch Remediation Center page that can be opened from menu Actions > Software > Patch remediation Center. Disable SWU policy before recreation of SWU packages. Run task "NS.Package Distribution Point Update Schedule" at Windows Task scheduler. Enable SWU policy after task will completed. Check on client machine that package is available to download.

Since most MSI create a repair point to the orignal install, i recommend not deleting if your clients have the space, for applications and package servers.

package servers will have to download the application again if the package is not used for a week then is used again.
