Restore Sharepoint 2007
Created: 16 Feb 2011 | 2 comments
Hi, I have a Sharepoint server (Sharepoint 2007 in Windows 2003 R2 SP2). I installed and configured NBU for sharepoint agent to backup the sharepoint server. I did not use BMR and the backup selection is Microsoft Sharepoint Resources:\. I want to test to restore the sharepoint resources. In Backup, Archive and Restore, I can see the sharepoint resources but all seems are DB files. My question is:
Do I need to restore the DB files in a specific order? Can I just select all to restore all the resources?
Thanks.

Recovery process for MOSS2007
According to our admin guide:
To recover a SharePoint 2007 Server or MOSS 3.0 (without BMR)
1 Configure the destination host the same as the the original host.
2 Install SharePoint 2007 or MOSS 3.0.
3 Create a new Configuration database and attach to it using the SharePoint
configuration wizard.
4 Configure the NetBackup master server that has the backup images from the
original host as the master server for the destination host.
5 Restore all the components of the SharePoint farm or MOSS, except the
Configuration database. Restore the components in the following order:
■ Search database
■ Web Application(s)
■ Shared Service Provider, if any
■ Single Sign-on database, if any
■ Search Index Files
From personal experience, you may need to in fact recover the configDB first, however I would try with the documented steps above.

Question??
Chopper.
I have seen in the admin guide that these steps applying to disaster recovery. Do you know how can I do a restore without reinstall the Sharepoint or re-configuring the Configuration Database?
Best Regards.
