Restore single folder in Mailbox Archive (recovery of deleted items not enabled)

This issue has been solved. See solution.

I have a user that deleted a sub-folder in his inbox, and needs to retrieve the archived mail from this folder, unfortunately we did not have the "enable recovery of users deleted items" enabled, that is now fixed.

Is there any way to retrieve the deleted archived items from from EV without recovering the entire site?   Or a way to recover a single mailbox archive?

OK first of all, i'd check to see if you have actually deleted the archived items or not through Archive Explorer or Search, as you should have to delete the contents first, and then DeleteEmptyFolders takes care of folders that no longer have any contents in them.

You may have found that all you've done is delete the shortcuts, in which case you use Exchange Dumpster to retrieve the items.
But if they truly are gone, it depends on what version of EV you are on.

Simplest solution is to connect to the users Vault Store database, go to the JournalDelete table and restore the items listed in JournalDelete back to their original locations from backup and then run a storage tool such as DVSChecker against it.

oh and Exchange Dumpster can only retrieve items from folders other than Deleted Items in Outlook 2007
you can also use the Exchange Dumpster to recover items that you have stored in Virtual Vault

just go to the folder where he deleted the items, select it then go to Tools -> Deleted Items Recovery
however if its outlook 2003 then you can only perform this against the Deleted Items

and even then its all dependant on whether exchange dumpster is enabled
