Restore from tape to SAN stalls
Updated: 21 May 2010 | 4 comments
I have a restore from tape to a NETAPP SAN and it will mount and position the tape and begin reading for a couple of hours. KB per second and KB's both will change regularyly until a point when they both freeze and the restore stalls. Any ideas? I've let it go for over 5 hours now and it's going nowhere.

i would try to setup some logs on your master. then i'll watch into the logs wat's it's saying
especially on bptm , bpcd , bpbdm
restore can take long times , especially if you use multiplexing backup
Have you got DAR enabled on your NDMP saves?
See this TN:
DOCUMENTATION: Known restrictions when using Direct Access Restore (DAR) with Network Data Management Protocol (NDMP)
(Presuming that this is an NDMP save!)

Restore help
NDMP is enabled but I'm restoring folders and an unknown number of files. Quite a few I'm sure. Over 1024? I can do the logging but not sure how to read them once I get them.
retore help
I ended up having to create the parent folder that I was trying to restore and then it worked. Not sure why I would need to do this as the path was buried 5 levels deep.
