I have built a virtual domain to check my exchange backups and I'm wondering if I have to keep the same version of BE that is in production. In production we are using 11d but we are licensed for version 12 of BE. Can I install BE12 in my virtual domain and restore an Exchange 2000 backup that was done in 11d?

Thanks for the help.

Hey dude, Possible. 12.0 will

Hey dude,

Possible. 12.0 will see the details on that tape. Catalog it, and it will populate your new DB. From there you can restore.
I have used 12.0 to restore a server that was backed up using 11D with no hassles...no loss of permissions, data etc.

Laters!

If you find this is a solution, please mark it as such.

Yes it is very much

Yes it is very much possible

How you have backed up the exchange previously? using leagacy method or GRT?

You will need to re-catalog the media in BEWS 12.0 before restoration

Please check and confirm. If this remedy worked for you Kindly mark it as a SOLUTION
