  • 1.  Restoring .GHO from PXE works, From Usb Flash drive = Errors.

    Posted Apr 16, 2007 08:23 AM
I have a 2 Gb USB flash drive, I have created it via Ghost boot wizard and it works perfectly, EXEPT.

A littel info before I cry on the fora :)

image is 1.66 Gb, Ghost files is 2.65 Mb and when both are on it I have 241 Mb of free space on it.
Image forks perfectly, I have restored it to my desktop from our PXE server, with a diskette and then using our normal menues.

WHEN I reboot and boot from they USB flash drive, I select LocalDiskFrom  Image - select the .Gho file - Select the Local harddríve as destination and keep the standard size of the harddrive and accept the Question 1822 "Proceed with disk restore? Destination drive will be permanently overwrittem" i select yes.
    Restoring starts.
In the blue line at the bottom it states.
    "Restoring Compressed data"

It takes some time, around 2 min and then
    "Restoring ... NTFS Log file"
    stops there for a while.

it starts transfering files, Imidietly and error pops up.

    Application Error 19235
"Ghost has detected corruption in the image file. Please perform an integrity check on the image.
If this problem persists, contact Symantech Technical Support at http://ww.symantec.com/techsupp/

I press okay and now enter Dos,

    it states.
    ABORT: 19235, Decompression Error 10
    c:\Ghost>

C would indicate teh Flash drive.

I press Crtl+Alt+Del and boot from the usb drive once more to do a integrety check on the image.

I now select Local once more, Check - Image file and select the image file.
It now starts the checking but at around 7 % it stops and states

    Application Error 19235
"Ghost has detected corruption in the image file. Please perform an integrity check on the image.
If this problem persists, contact Symantech Technical Support at http://ww.symantec.com/techsupp/

Once more I press okay and now enter Dos,

    it states.
    ABORT: 19235, Decompression Error 10
    c:\Ghost>

my Error log, and it is not readable :(

Just enter the validation code on the picture and it will reveal it self to you.

    :(
That is how I fell now :(

I created my usb bootable keyring with GSS 2.0 and the image is a few years old.

Since you reported this earlier in the thread on FAT32 support, we've found and fixed the cause of this. The fix will be included in the forthcoming LiveUpdate.

HAHA. So Im not the stupid one :D
That makes me so happy, at a new job and batteling forever with this :D

    Comment would be appriciated.
Long term I just have to start using 4 Gb flash sticks = FAT32.
Must reread some topics on how to do that :)

Short term, I have to create a FAT32 on my External Usb 2.0/Firewire Maxtor 300 Gb disk :D
Or Create a DVD with each image one :D

Think I will have to follow this EXTENSIVE guide

Finnaly I would like to thank you for your swift response :D
Dident subcribe to the thread regarding FAT32 support so I dident know :)

Although I did create a special Boot Wizard that supports FAT32 in PCDOS directly, we're not going to include that in the upcoming update because we don't have enough time to fully test that out. However, you are welcome to try that out if you want if you e-mail me at nigel dot bree at gmail dot com

I recived the beta from Nigel Bree.

    It works like a charm

Thoug it took 84 min to copy 2360 Mb, Image is originaly 1.66 Gb, I belive i need a better usb driver in order to boot recovery speed?

    Spare info.
Per default the program creates a partition of 42 Gb.
Disk is 300 Gb and all of it is formattes according to Computer management.
    I dont care acually :)
I can just creat 1 single 42 Gb version my self :) And then have the rest in NTFS.

Now I will ´just have to find out how I burn a DVD and recover from that.
BTW when will the update that fixes the problems with usb keyrings be released?

Hello. I have the same problem. Highly compressed image of WinXP is 851MB. USB thumb drive is 1GB Image restores to Dell Optiplex 745 via network/PXE boot, but USB drive gives error. Application Error 28000 ghost has detected corruption in the image file. Please perform an integrity check on the image. Integrity checks fail. Recreating image via PXE, different compression, restores ok from PXE, fails again from USB. Using Ghost Console 11.0.0.1502. Boot Wizard. Kingston DataTraveller II 1GB Is there a fix? Thanks.

If you still have build 1502 (2.0.0) installed, running LiveUpdate should download an installer for build 1533 (2.0.1) which has the resolution for this problem too. You'll also need to reformat the USB drive in the Ghost Boot Wizard, since it was code put on the drive to assist with the boot process that had the fault.

Nigel, Thanks for the prompt reply. I did the LiveUpdate, reformatted the USB thumb drive via wizard. Image file now transfers correctly. Very happy now. T.
