Restoring from Journaling mailbox straight to user's mailbox - doesn't work
Please help or explain, may be I am missing something.
We have Vault 10.01 installation connected to Exchange 2010. We have only journaling task running for Exchange journaling mailbox. All components configured and work fine.
Administrators need to be able to restore emails. We use vault web access and I can add mail to basket and restore it back to journaling mailbox, where it immediately picked up by Journaling task and moved back to archive which makes the process pointless.
So the idea is to restore mail straight to user's mailbox. Is this possible to do? I am trying to restore mail to another user mailbox and always get error: "Cannot log on. Incorrect server or mailbox" whatever I try.
When I create basket and go to restore page I have two fields to play with:
1. Server. It set by default to mailbox server name where journaling mailbox kept. We have four mailbox servers, does it matter which server I point to? I've tried all but no luck. I've tried also CAS servers without any luck.
2. Mailbox Alias. I've tried all combinations like useralias, domain\useralias, useralias@domain.com
nothing worked
Vault account on Vault server has full access to user accounts I am testing with. The account I’ve loging on to Vault website also has full rights to mailboxes I try to restore.
I am out if ideas, do I do something wrong or something which is not possible to do?

So do you have Mailbox archiving enabled?
There was a similar issue in previous versions: Article URL http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH68853
Might be easier for you to export it to a PST.
How to Export User archive or Journal archive created Basket content to a PST file.
