Revert to old version of Touchdown (8.5 etc)?

How do we revert to the old version of Touchdown eg before the crappy symantec changes?

I've found sites that have the pre 8.5apk's but would prefer not to download from non official sources in case they've been hacked/modified.

As a fully paid for user.....shouldnt the old version be available for download somewhere?

Just emailed support to get the previous version.  What a huge letdown this so-called "update" has been...  I had to reconfigure my account on my LG G3, everything was lost after the update.  Apart from poor UI decisions (very disappointing), my calendar stopped syncing (it actually crashes my phone!), there is no email activity widget available anymore (what is up with that?)...  I expect more from a company that supports business users.

Thanks for the ultra-quick response Peter, much appreciated.  I set up the older version on my LG G3 with no issues, and have blocked automatic updates until the various issues are ironed out with the new version.

BTW, I feel your pain from a support perspective.  Been there, done that, not fun having to deal with frustrated users.  Crossing my fingers that everything gets resolved soon.

    Hi,

Thanks MarcC67. Just know that we are working on fixing these issues as quickly as we can, although there are a lot of things in the backlog to go through, as well as other issues.

As for the widget you're referring to, can you clairfy? Did we lose a widget, or are you talking about a third party one? Third party widgets are one of those things that we've been trying to cut back on, because we generally can't attest to the security of them.

Touchdown's email activity widget (AKA com.nitrodesk.nitroid.ViewEmail) has gone missing, it was there in all previous versions.

    Hi,

There should still be an inbox widget- is that not present in your widget list?

I have Touchdown HD version 9.0.00272 installed through my company.  Everytime I try to update to version 9.0.00412 on the Play Store I get error code 505.  I have a Samsung Galaxy S6 and I tried updating the Android Web View without any success installing 9.0.00412.  I also uninstalled Touchdown HD and could not reinstall due to error code 505.  I had to reinstall back to version 9.0.00272  through our company IT system.  Could you please help with this issue?

P.S.  I prefer the old email look rather than the new update.  The font for the topic is way too big.  Give the users the option to change the font size.  Given the choice I would roll back to the version before the UI update.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

Sure Mad scientist, (Love that name) email into touchdown-support@symantec.com for the link.

Also, would you be able to reach out to Google Play support about the 505 issue? We have not been able to replicate it at all on our side, and are hoping that they can identify what it is in their logs.

Peter, there is no "Inbox" activity widget (an activity widget is a sub-program within an app).  Most launchers - including the one I use (Nova Prime) - let users add such widgets to a screen by long-pressing on any screen, then dragging an activity widget to it.  An icon is then shown, for example "EMail", and when I tap it, I go directly to my messages list.  These activity widgets are meant as shortcuts to specific functionality within an app.  Here's a screenshot (the "Activities" option can be seen on the top right corner of the image):

There is a "Inbox" standard widget, that is NOT what is missing, nor what I need.  Thanks.

    Hi,

Touchdown doesn't allow third party widgets access due to security concerns.

What a good phrase "crappy symantec changes"!

I have been using this app for many years. Works fine until recent update (from regular app update) to ver. 9xxx407, and now xxx412. Now it keeps crashing, very frequently! What’s wrong? How can I roll back to previous version? Must I reinstall?

    It's not a third-party widget, it's part of your app. ;-(

    Hi,

I see what you mean- you want an inbox shortcut? Just place the Touchdown HD or email count widget.
