This issue has been solved. See solution.
Hello, i am using netbackup 7.5 on Windows Server 2008
After config Tape Library Sun StorageTek SL48 with 2 drive, my robot inventory scan media ok. But robotic cannot access media.
Here's some result from robtest:
- test_ready: Unit is ready
- s p: There are no media access port elements
- mode: First transport addr = 0, Number transport elements = 1
First storage addr = 1001, Number storage elements = 48First media access port addr = 0, Number media access port elements = 0First drive addr = 1, Number drive elements = 2Library does have a barcode readerMODE_SENSE complete
-
inquiry: HP MLS G3 Series F.80
-
init: Initiating INITIALIZE_ELEMENT_STATUSINITIALIZE_ELEMENT_STATUS complete
Any ideas about this? Does "no media access port cause the problem?
Thanks and Regards,

No media access port just means there is no CAP/ MAP
What does this show (in robtest)
s s
s d
Providing these show 'slots' and 'drives' all is good.
Martin
Here:
s s: slot 1 (addr 1001) contains Cartridge = yes
There is no problem.
The library you have does not have a CAP/ MAP (mail or cartridge access port) so this is why nothing is returned.
There is no fault, there is no problem with not haveing a CAP/ MAP
Hope this helps,
Martin
If you try this ...
m s1 d1
Does it load the tape
Then
m d1 s1
Does it unload the tape ...

What exactly do you mean by "robotic cannot access media"?
What type of drives are they (LTO4 / LTO5 etc.)
If you mean NetBackup will not load a tape does the drive have the same density as the tapes? (hcart3 and hcart3 etc.)

@mph999: Thanks for your infomation about CAP/MAP. And yes, i can see it load/unload the tape successfully when i try 2 command which you give.
@ Mark: Exactly when i backup to the Tape, the backup process stuck at "mounting media ....." (... is media ID). When time outed, it tried with another drive, but still stuck at mounting. What do you think about my problem?
Oh, and both of my 2 drive are HCART
As per Martin's post, try to mount and dismount tapes using robtest:
m s1 d1
unload d1
m d1 s1
PLEASE remember to quit out of robtest when done. If you leave robtest open, NBU cannot use the robot.

Good point Marianne.
Usually m dx sy works, but on some libraries you have to unload first.

Hello Marianne, I executed that 3 command, and here's the result:
Multipath configuration is not problem.
Are there any error reported in Application Log?

Yeah, i have just fixed my problem, with some luck.
I tried to delete drives, robot and add them back manually. But it still not worked. Then i add them using Storage device config wizard. Now it worked.
Anyway, i haven't known what happen with my system before.
Thanks everybody for helping me.
Regards,
If you have multiple paths to drives you must use the wizard to configure devices.
This is the only way that multipathing is supported.
