Role-based Access Control in BE2012

We currently have an assortment of independent BE12.5 and 2010 installations run by different business departments each with their own storage. The company is going through an efficiency drive and would like to pool resources for greater efficiency.

As a result, we'd like to migrate to a BE2012 environment which all those departments can access, and to which all the storage is connected. This should reduce waste on the storage and reduce the operational overhead of the multiple instances.

The trick is this: How can we restrict the admin staff in each of those departments to configuring and executing backup/restore jobs only on the hosts of their own department? Can this be done with a single BE2012 instance?

Ah that's interesting - I didn't know about the Remote Console.

I was proposing to have the BE2012 server as a Terminal Server so staff could RDP in without being Administrator on the Windows server itself, so that does solve a different problem for me :)
