    Hi,

I uninstalled McAfee and tried to install SEP 12.1 but failed.  I also tried to modified the registry (rename the PendingRename... attribute) but still cannot install SEP.  Attached is the SEP_INST.  Please let me know how to fix this.

    Thanks.

What is the exact version of SEP you're trying to install? Make sure it's 12.1.5...

Very first version of 12.1, wouldn't recommend it but if you have to it threw this error:

Symantec Endpoint Protection has detected that there are pending system changes that require a reboot.  Please reboot the system and rerun the installation.
MSI (c) (38:34) [12:36:34:418]: Product: Symantec Endpoint Protection -- 4Symantec Endpoint Protection has detected that there are pending system changes that require a reboot.  Please reboot the system and rerun the installation.

    Did you reboot?

See here steps if you've already rebooted, you need to delete a specific reg key and try again:

    Hi Brian,

Sorry that I gave the wrong version in my previous reply.  This is the correct version: 12.1.1000.157 RU1.

I did reboot and reinstall after installing all Windows updates.  I also tried to delete the "PendingFileRenameOperations" registry value but it wouldn't allow me to install again right away because it gave another message saying something like "pending reboot".

    Any other idea?

    Thanks.

After deleting the reg key, don't reboot. Try the install immediately after deleting the key.

I tried to install immediately after deleting the reg key without rebooting but it says "pending reboot to finish previous installation" and it doesn't allow me to go further in the installation process.

In addition, if I don't delete the reg key and reboot the computer, the reg ket will disappear automatically after the reboot.

    What should I do next?

    Thanks.
