Messaging Gateway

Is this possible using Messaging Gateway?

We have several business locations currently each with their own email domains.

Management wants one unified same email address across all locations. We know what has to be done at the Exchange servers at each of the locations to add this new domain and make every user at those different locations all have the new domain as their default SMTP address.  But is the Messaging Gateway capable of figuring out where the different users are at their respective locations and routing those incoming emails appropriately?

I see that the Messaging Gateway is capable of doing Directory Integration from multiple AD servers, and potentially doing some sort of address resolution or routing.  So once the Messaging Gateway has the Directory Data from the AD servers at each of our locations... does it know, or can it be configured to know where each user's home Exchange server is, and route those incoming emails to those various Exchange servers?  (Remembering that all incoming email to the Messaging Gateway now has one single same domain name and the SMTP records for all users in AD/EXchange at each location would be updated to the new common domain name).

    Scenario:

    Domain is called:  xyz.com

    Mary is at location A

    Joe is at location B

    Pete is at location C

All three users (and locations) now use the same domain of xyz.com.

Each location has their own AD and Exchange Environment.  The Exchange servers at each location are able to accept emails addressed to xyz.com.  All users at location A, B and C now have the new xyz.om email as their default.

Directory Integration has been setup and configured on the Messaging Gateway with an entry for each of the 3 locations directory services and the Messaging Gateway has read the contents of each of the AD or AD Global Catalog's contents.

An email arrives for Mary@xyz.com at the Messaging Gateway.  Now that the Gateway has read the Directories at each of the locations, does the Gateway know, or can it be configured to know that Mary is at location A's mail server and send the message over there.  Same for Joe@xyz.com... having the gateway know to automatically send that email to location B's mail server.  And so on.

You should set up an Exchange Hub server for the SMG to send emails to. This is the purpose of the Hub server, since it is integrated into your Exchange environment, it knows where to route these emails.
