  • 1.  RTSM AMT IDE Redirection question

    Posted Jan 16, 2012 05:58 AM

    Hi All,

Just a quick question about IDE redirection. I have been testing this and it is proving to be something we could use a lot in our enviroment, however does anyone know if it has limitations?.

So far I tried some boot iso's with a degree of success but one thing that is bugging me is the KVM. It will show the progress of the boot but if anything has a GUI it will not display.

Is this a limitation or possibly a network problem that needs looking into.

    HI,

If you speak about the SOL\IDE redirection then, yes that is the limitation, it show the progress only until the GUI appears on client.

On other hand the KVM that is exists in AMT version 6.0 and later.
To use it you should also specify not only the AMT but the DASH(WS_man) protocol for connection.

    Hi AlexTH,

Sorry for not getting back sooner but had other things to do. We have a range of PC's with different AMT versions so I knew about their limitations. However I was sat with a brand new Lenovo with version 6 and my two protocols configured for connection so though everything would work as planned.

What I forgot to check even though the device was splattered with Vpro enabled all over it was the graphics card blush stupid thing came with an intergrated Nvida card so it was never going to work I guess. Well now I have tested a desktop with intergrated Intel graphics and everything is working as I wanted.
