rtvscan.exe high resource usage memory I/O cpu
Updated: 10 Apr 2011 | 4 comments
This issue has been solved. See solution.
Endpoint (11.0.2000.1567) runs on my laptop (XP/SP3), where it was installed by my former employer. Since I left that organization, two years ago, the software seemed to run and update fine. While I thought that situation odd, I awaited a license-renewal notice or some such. Recently, the entire system has begun running quite slow at times, occasionally approching nonresponsiveness. Primary suspects seem to be rtvscan.exe (peak memory > 240M, page faults > 1.3M) and, today, coh32.exe (cpu usage spikes > 35%). NavLogon.dll is in the proper location, and the registry entry points there. livei
What's going on here? Is Endpoint corrupted or out-of-date, or am I looking in the wrong direction?

Purchase or Migrate....please
Hello,
In your Case, the best option is to uninstall SEP as ofcourse, you cannot upgrade as you don't have license for the same.
You wouldn't receive any notification, as probably you may have not registered for the same.
Installing Either Norton Version or Purchasing Symantec Endpoint Protection License may help you get the upgraded version.
The issue in your machine is not Corruption of SEP. However, there were some bugs in version SEP 11.0.2000 which were not fixed and the same in your case was not fixed since last 2 years.
Incase if you have a latest version, here are the steps below to upgrade which is recommended.
Since you are carrying Older version 11.0.2000
We recommend you to upgrade the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager and all clients to Latest version.
Since you are carrying old version, there would be 2 upgrades you will have to go through. Please check the steps below:
1) From Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0.2000 to Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0.6005 (RU6a)

Unfortunately, since this was
Unfortunately, since this was installed by a former employer, you are no longer licensed to use the current version installed on your laptop, or migrate to a newer build. Your best option is to remove SEP and purchase Norton Internet Security.
