  • 1.  RTVSCAN/Real Time Scanning Disabled when trying to log on to VPN

    Hello,

     

    Just wondering if anyone has encountered this yet in the wild, as I can find nothing on it on the net, whatsoever!

    At startup, you can see the AV enabled, then RTVSCAN.exe is killed, and although it still says that real time scanning is enabled, RTVSCAN is not in the running processes and you cannot connect to our VPN, which is running Juniper Software.

    This PC had viruses/malware prior to this, and were removed by AntiMalwareBytes

    Infected files were:

    C:\symnonav\esugregex.exe (trojan.dropper)

    C:\recycler\adapt_installer.exe

    Those files were deleted, now there is no spyware infection according to Malwarebytes

    Running a full scan with symantec also produces zero results.

    A few interesting notes:

    This problem has manifested itself on several different PCs, but all the same model number, Dell D620.

    I have removed the wireless drivers and intel pro set wireless from the machine to check those, and same results, not a usual solution, but users are usually on wireless when they connect to our VPN, so I was trying both wired and unwired, got the same results.

    If anyone can help me out on this, I would be greatly in their debt :)

    RTVscan gets killed itself ?

    Well then it might be a rootkits..try scanning your machine in safe mode..

    Or try scanning it with rootkit revealer like GMER from ( gmer.net )

    You can try the following:

    -Download ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/products/symantec_endpoint_protection/Sep_SupportTool.exe

    -Run the tool

    -Select the Power Eraser option

    -Run a scan with it

    This may provide you with a list of suspect items to check out to ensure there is nothing there. Alternatively you can give our support a call and we can do a more thorough loadpoint analysis.
