RU5 SEPM and Client - Client not reporting AV updates

This issue has been solved. See solution.

We have one client that is updating AV definitions according to the SEP client status screen and the client activity system log as accessed from SEPM, but the computer status log and home page in SEPM do not report the updated definitions.  The cumputer actually has the 10/22/2009 definitions, but the SEPM home page and computer status log show 10/15/2009 definitions.  I have already tried rebooting the machine several times.  Client status in SEPM shows that the client is checking in to the server.

 Hi Knightstorm, - IS the

 Hi Knightstorm,

- IS the client taking definition from the manager or Symantec directly.

You may also try deleting the client from the manager then once it re-connect with the manager check the definitions.

Try this, Log off and exit

Try this,

Log off and exit from SEPM
Uninstall the Liveupdate from the SEPM server ( from Add or remove programs or command line)
Reboot the server (if possible)
Re-install LiveUpdate
Register the Liveupdate with SEPM

Live update

You mentioned that the SEPM has the latest virus definitions but the client does not, so we need to check whether this client machine is able to communicate with the SEPM try pinging the machines i.e. the SEPM server and the client machine. On the client side try updating the definitions manually by going to Start>>run>>luall and hit enter. This would initiate a connection to the Symantec Live update server and the client shoud download the latest definitions. In case it doesnt then we need to check the client machine in case it does then we need to wait for one day when the SEPM receives the latest definition and if the client does ntot update then there is a sure shot communication issue between the SEPM and the client
