Client Management Suite

I have SMA installed on workstations in an OU already.  I want to add more to the OU, but don't want the SMA to reinstall to the existing ones.  Will this rule do it in the scheduled push?

" exclude resources not in | 'Windows Computers with no Symantec Management Agent Installed' "
 

Hi Ra1ph,

if these computers, where SMA is installed, are known for your SMP Server (otherwise: clients with SMA are available in "Symantec_CMDB" database), then this rule "exclude resources not in | 'Windows Computers with no Symantec Management Agent Installed' will exclude these clients with already installed SMA.

You've used "Network Discovery" to discover them and then enable schedule for SMA push installation?

IP, thanks!  Those double negatives... Who talks that way?  :)

Anyhow... Yes.  Network Discovery initially, but just SMA push via OU at this time.

Thanks for the link.  Do you recommend that option as oppose to targeting the OU in the SMP? 

This depends on your purpose. If you know that appropriate OU in Active Directory should always have installed SMA (after image restore, etc), then using GPO from AD, your computers will always be checked, whether there is SMA installed or not and then execute installation of SMA on appropriate PC from appropriate OU.

In SMP Console you can import OUs via Active Directory Import or create own Organizationa Views/Orgranization Groups, where will be located appropriate computers.
