run quick delivery task as local admin
Created: 26 Jul 2010 | 4 comments
I'm trying to run aquick delivery task as a local admin.
I have to do it this way because the installer throws an error if I use the altiris agent credentials.
I'm having trouble figuring out what I need to put into the domain field when configuring it to run as a different user.
I've tried leaving it empty, %computername% and localhost but none of these seem to work.
I'm using NS 7.
thanks

What is the error message when using the Agent credentials?

If you just enter administrator
and proper credentials, from my experience, Windows will inject the machine name for you (or at least try). For example if you try to connect remotely to a machine, and you type in just admin, and a password and it can't be validated, then Windows will comeback with a prompt MACHINAME\Accountname for you to try again.
A little long winded, but I've had this work quite well for me in a mixed environment.

The exact error message I get is: Fatal Error!! Required MSI directory property PersonalFolder is in a invalid location "C:\Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\Documents\".
I'm deploying the software through NS so it doesn't give me any prompts or anything. It will just try using the credentials supplied and if it fails it won't try again.
Invalid location vs. not enough rights
are two different considerations. What exactly are you trying to do with your task?
