I have a machine running Microsoft Server 2012 OS. I need to be able to run virus scans on the server itself, NOT on client machines. I was told that Endpoint Protection is what I want. Having installed the trial version, to evaluate, it is unclear how to invoke this functionality...or even if it exists. What do I need to do to set-up the anti-virus capability and launch a scan locally on the server?
Hi,
Thank you for posting in Symantec community.
In the console you should be able to see the client machine, right click on it & select run command on computers, choose 'Scan'
Screenshot is attached to the reference.
Just right click on a client in the Clients page and select the option to kicoff a scan under "Run Command on Computers"
I don't have any machines listed on the console page. Do I need to configure endpoint protection in some way?
OR
To run SEP scan locally, open SEP client GUI & Select scan for threats then choose either Full scan or Active scan.
You can manage client remotely as well.
To manage them through the console you can either push the new package or replace Sylink.xml file.
Can refer this article: Installing clients with Remote Push

Is the client currently unmanaged?
Hello,
did you install the Symantec Endpoint Protection client on the system you want to scan?
